Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Morning Ledger Pro (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles personal data when you visit morningledgerpro.pro, read our reporting, subscribe to or enquire about the weekday morning brief, request a reprint licence, telephone or email the newsroom, or visit our office at 48 Robinson Road, #14-01, Singapore 068886. We operate in Singapore and process personal data in line with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) and guidance issued by the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC).

We publish news. We do not use this site to collect passwords, payment-card numbers, one-time passcodes, or government login credentials. The contact form is an enquiry form. Briefing access and reprint licences are arranged by email after you write to us, not through a payment gateway on these pages.

Privacy questions may be sent to desk@morningledgerpro.pro. We aim to respond within thirty calendar days. If you write about a data request, include enough detail for us to locate the record without collecting extra data we do not need.

2. Scope

This policy applies to personal data collected through pages hosted at morningledgerpro.pro and its subpaths; the enquiry form on contact.php; email and telephone communication with the Robinson Road desk; in-person visits during published hours; and optional functional features such as the Google Maps embed on the contact page, which loads only after you accept functional cookies. It does not govern third-party sites we link to in reporting, including company investor pages, ministry consultation portals, or exchange notices. When you leave morningledgerpro.pro, read the destination’s privacy notice separately.

This policy does not apply to personal data that appears in published journalism where the data is part of a news report compiled from public documents, on-the-record comments, or other lawful journalistic sources. Editorial files are handled under our reporting standards described on the About page, with additional care for private individuals who are not public figures.

3. Personal data we collect

When you submit the enquiry form we collect your name, email address, optional telephone number, and the message you write. We also record the date and time of submission in an internal log used to administer enquiries. If you email the newsroom we collect the address you use, the content of the thread, and any attachments you choose to send. If you telephone us we may keep a short note of the call so that the editor who replies has the same facts you gave on the line.

If you enquire about the weekday brief or a reprint licence we may also keep organisational details you volunteer, such as company name, billing email, and the URL or circulation figure you provide so that we can quote a licence. We do not require a national identity number, and we do not ask for Unique Entity Number, GST registration, or other government identifiers as a condition of reading the site.

Server logs may include Internet Protocol address, browser type, date and time of request, and the pages requested. We use these logs to keep the site available, to diagnose faults, and to understand which section pages are read. We do not use logs to build advertising profiles. We do not run third-party analytics pixels on this site.

If you accept functional cookies, Google may process data through the Maps embed on the contact page according to Google’s own terms. You can refuse functional cookies and still read every article; the map simply will not load. A text link to Google Maps remains available in a noscript block.

4. How we use personal data

We use enquiry data to reply to corrections, briefing questions, reprint requests, and newsroom visits; to send the weekday brief if you have asked for it and we have confirmed the mailbox; to quote and administer reprint licences; to keep a record of what we promised you; and to protect the newsroom against abuse of the form, including automated spam. We use server logs for security and reliability. We use cookie preference storage on your device so the banner does not reappear on every page load.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share enquiry lists with data brokers. We do not use your message to train public generative models. We do not send marketing newsletters beyond the editorial brief you requested. If that ever changes, we will ask for a fresh, specific consent and we will say so in this policy.

5. Legal bases under the PDPA

We collect and use personal data where it is reasonable and where we have notified you through this policy and the form labels. Enquiry handling is the purpose you would reasonably expect when you write to a newsroom. Brief delivery is the purpose you would reasonably expect when you ask for the weekday file. Security logging is necessary to operate a public website. Where consent is the appropriate basis — for example, loading Google Maps — we ask through the cookie banner before the embed runs.

You may withdraw consent for optional processing by writing to desk@morningledgerpro.pro. Withdrawal does not affect reporting we have already published lawfully, and it does not require us to delete server logs that we still need for security. If you withdraw consent for the brief, we will stop sending it to that mailbox.

6. Disclosure

We disclose personal data to service providers who host email, who keep the website online, or who provide professional advice to the newsroom, and only as needed for those tasks. We may disclose data if required by Singapore law, a court order, or a competent authority. We may disclose data to a successor if the newsroom is transferred as a going concern, in which case this policy will still govern unless we notify a change.

We do not disclose subscriber or enquiry lists to advertisers. Journalistic publication of names that appear in public documents is not a “disclosure of your enquiry”; it is reporting, handled separately.

7. Transfers

Our newsroom and primary files sit in Singapore. Email and hosting providers may process data on servers outside Singapore. Where that happens we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances so that the data is protected to a standard comparable to the PDPA, including contractual clauses with the provider. Google Maps, if you enable it, may involve processing by Google outside Singapore under Google’s terms.

8. Retention

Enquiry messages and the internal log are kept for up to twenty-four months after the last reply, unless a longer period is needed for a legal claim, a correction file, or accounting related to a reprint licence. Briefing subscriber records are kept for the life of the subscription and twelve months after it ends, unless you ask us to delete what the law allows us to delete sooner. Server logs are rotated on a shorter cycle, typically ninety days, unless an incident requires a longer hold. Cookie preference is stored on your device until you clear site data.

9. Security

We limit access to enquiry mailboxes and logs to newsroom staff who need them. The contact form uses a hidden honeypot field to reduce automated spam, validates email addresses before they are placed in mail headers, and strips line breaks from header fields. We do not store payment-card data because we do not collect it. No security measure is perfect. If we become aware of a notifiable data breach we will follow PDPA breach assessment and notification duties.

10. Your rights

Subject to the PDPA, you may request access to personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, and withdraw consent for optional processing. You may also ask how we have used or disclosed your data within a year before the request, within the limits the Act allows. Send requests to desk@morningledgerpro.pro with enough information for us to verify that we are speaking with the right person. We may refuse a request where the Act permits, including where the data is opinion, is subject to legal privilege, or would reveal data about another individual.

If you believe we have not handled your data in line with the PDPA, you may contact the PDPC after trying to resolve the matter with us. We would rather fix an error when you first write.

11. Children

This site is written for adult readers of business, policy, and technology news. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children for marketing. If a parent or guardian believes a child has submitted the form, write to us and we will delete the enquiry where the law requires.

12. Journalism and sources

Source confidentiality is an editorial commitment. This policy does not require reporters to place confidential source identities into the same mailbox log as ordinary enquiries. Confidential source records, where they exist, are held separately and accessed only as needed for the story. If you are a source, say so in your first message so we can handle the thread accordingly.

13. Cookies

Essential storage remembers your cookie choice. Functional cookies are used only for Google Maps after you accept them. We do not set advertising cookies. Details sit in the Cookie Policy.

14. Changes

We may update this policy when our desks, hosting, or the law change. The date at the top will change. Material changes that affect how we use enquiry data will be described in plain language on this page. Continued use of the site after an update means the new text applies to later collection. For past collection, the policy in force at the time still guides our handling unless we are required to apply a newer legal standard.
